A Conversation with Hannaford

We recently sat down with Sherri Stevens, Community Relations Specialist at Hannaford Supermarkets. We spoke about the partnerships Hannaford and Manchester Radio Group have worked on over the years. Here is what she had to say about working with the Manchester Radio Group:

How long have you been partnering with Manchester Radio Group?  Hannaford has a long history with Manchester Radio Group, partnering with them on business promotions and events/programs that support the critical work of nonprofits in the communities we serve.  We’re very grateful for the wonderful relationship we have established over the years.  We feel strongly that Manchester Radio Group not only has helped us to grow our business in New Hampshire but through shared values, we have collaborated to positively impact many individuals and families throughout the state.


What are some of the community promotions that you have partnered with WZID? 

There have been many over the years, but here are recent and ongoing community partnerships that we have enjoyed:

The Annual 20 Outstanding Women program – recognizing 20 women each year in New Hampshire who volunteer their time and talents to make a significant impact in their communities.

The Tons of Turkeys food drive which takes place in 6 Manchester area Hannaford stores every November. Without a doubt, this is our favorite day of the year.  It showcases the amazing generosity of people in the greater Manchester area.  Customers and Hannaford associates purchase turkeys, holiday fixins’, fight hunger boxes and gift cards to donate to New Horizons for NH for our neighbors who struggle with food insecurity.  This event brings us all together as a community to the Thanksgiving table and demonstrates why we love being a part of that community.

For the past 2 years, we partnered with Manchester Radio Group and many other great businesses in the area to hold Art Jam festivals– to bring awareness and much-needed funds to nonprofits that are on the front lines, supporting our friends in the state who are affected by the opioid crisis.

Hannaford Associates Volunteerism Campaign, currently running on WZID, is designed to inspire others to volunteer while giving a window into the incredible culture in our business. Our associates care deeply about their local communities and give back in many ways.  We’re hoping that, by telling their stories, we are showcasing wonderful nonprofits in NH, and showing others how easy it can be to make a big difference in the lives of others.


Why has WZID (Manchester Radio Group) been such a successful Platform for your community promotions?   First, we know our consumers lead busy lives, so radio is a great platform for reaching them.  MRG has a big geographic reach and offers a variety of stations to connect with diverse segments of people in NH, which is critical in the consideration to partner with them.


Why do you keep coming back to partner with us?   The associates at Manchester Radio Group are easy to work with, nimble, and innovative.  We share the same business values in terms of ethics, quality of work, and (most importantly) humor.  Our community initiatives have been successful because it’s clear that they are as committed as we are to keeping NH communities healthy.
